CONTROVERSIAL AWARDS, DINNER FOOD AND THE PURGING EFFECT; ITS ALL ABOUT NAPSS

On Saturday, the best Dinner (some people say) and Awards night so far this session was held in Crawford University. The organizers, executives, department as a whole, students and other partakers have to take the credit for this “great” success. Held at the Monument Garden, it was fun and fun all the way throughout the evening. It was worth it! Despite not starting at the originally slated time (3 pm), the event was still a hit. Despite the fact that the MC, a certain Josh2Funny was not effortlessly funny, He tried for his job and money! The dancers also wowed the attendees, I mean, I love the rhythmic movement of their body language and their choreography. A great shout-out to Ife (She killed it mehn).

However, there was a section of attendees who believed that the Awards was totally incredible, hilariously-shared and funnily distributed. These people (NAPSSites, funny enough) believed that considering the fact that the Awards nomination and voting stage was conducted in a somewhat funny manner, the Awards were basically shared between the executives of the association!! Buttressing this belief is the fact that asides from the Mr. and Miss Fresher Awards which were given to 100 Level Recipients, virtually almost all the other awards were given to basically 400L students, with three 300L students getting awards. Furthermore, almost all the 400L students that won awards were all executives of the Association. Thus, it was glaring that the Awards were shared between the excos. Furthermore, it was believed that some awards were not given based on merit but based on familiarity. For example……………………….Go find out!

If there is one thing that NAPSS is known for, then it is its distinct razzness. From its Rag Day which had the students dress up like masquerades, up till its Dinner where students lined up to get their food. So I was not surprised that during the event, Students lined up to be served.  I mean, Students lining up to get their food served!! Not Bad, Not surprising, it is NAPSS!! IT IS NAPSS!!! Now that a new style of food service has been introduced, NABAMS should probably follow suit in its dinner night, which is next.

 However, the manner of food service is not the issue; the issue is the effect of the food consumption. It was an unbelievable thing on Sunday morning when over 50 students visited the clinic to complain of stomach upset (they called it PURGING). Over 45 students complained that it was as a result of the Food they consumed at NAPSS Dinner Night. Funny yet True! The Clinic was crowded with a whole lot of people who gave the same reason: “PURGING BECAUSE OF NAPSS DINNER FOOD”.

However, I honestly don't know how You will devour moinmoin, fried rice, jollof rice and salad and then cap it with excessive Chapman; and you expect not to destroy your hostel block with the end-product of your food adventure!! I hope doing the number 2 wasnt too stressful? I went to d clinic during service and saw a whole lot of people across all levels in d clinic waiting to be attended to. I mean, was it dat bad??Even though I did not purge, I wonder seriously how the clinic was spacious enough to accomodate over 50 purging patients.... C'mon, the toilets self for don hear am ghan o. A great shoutout to d Nurse on duty, she really tolerated a lot!!

But, on a serious note, Apparently, a whole lot of explanation has to be done by the organizers. We don't want to have a dinner that would give us worse toilet experiences.......Pls, take note!

Nonetheless, the night was worth the hype, the food service was hilarious (even its after-effect-which is purging) and despite the fact that the Awards were perceived as partial and exco-dominated. Did I say that I didn't purge? Yes I didn't Purge!! Ain't a fan of it.

It was a great night after-all. I had a sweet experience dancing with dem girls who turned up on the dance floor. On a percentage scale of 100% , i am giving it a 70.
