Private Universities Have No Business With TET Fund

leadership editorial — Nov 29 2014 Of recent, there has been an upswing in the number of owners and managers of private universities agitating that the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) extends assistance to private universities in the country, with the latest call coming from the vice chancellor of Achievers’ University, Owo, Ondo State, Prof. Tunji Ibiyemi. They insist that like the government-owned universities, they are in the business of providing social services; therefore government should extend financial assistance to them as players in the education sector. They are of the view that their continuous exclusion from accessing funds from TETFund amounts to discrimination in view of the fact that the funds are sourced from the private sector. In our view, this is tantamount to asking the government to subsidise a wholly private venture that was established with profit motive. TETFund was established as an intervention agency under the TETFund Act 2011, charged with the resp

Humiliation Of A University Graduate On Graduation Day

Is this the level of degradation the Nigerian educational system has gotten to...A shocking but funny picture which has been circulating since yesterday showed a young man celebrating his graduation from the university with "class and style".... The Psychology graduate of Imo State University IMSU whose name is withheld due to embarrassing reasons deemed it fit to celebrate his graduation by being drenched with water as he rolled on the ground, messing himself up with "joy and happiness"...Only if we knew how long it took him to conquer the battle......"School matter no be small tin"..... If some Nigerian graduates can behave this way because they've made it through the University, how would it be when they get a job or even become successful in life....Little wonder the political thugs in our National chambers know how to scale fences and jump gates efficiently -when the educated and thugs all do the same thing... Anyways, congratulations to the

Crisis at LASU

Image
Fresh crisis is currently brewing at the Lagos State University, LASU, with the Vice Chancellor of the school, Prof. John Obafunwa withdrawing the Ph.D certificates of 14 lecturers opposed to his administration in the troubled institution. The lecturers have also passed a vote of no confidence on the VC, calling for his removal from office for the school to move forward. Speaking after the meeting of the Lagos Zone of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, held at the Ojo Campus of LASU on Wednesday, the lecturers alleged that the authorities of LASU are calling for the withdrawal of the certificates of 14 lecturers with Ph.D bagged in the school and duly signed by the VC. LOVE STORY OF A UNILAG BABE AND BUS CONDUCTOR

*sobs* this is a very touching nd rili funny story by my nigga: Roy ofili..pls enjoy: Something interesting happened on my way to Oshodi this morning. At the park this rough mean-looking conductor also known as “agbero” in Yoruba was screaming for passengers, his vernacular oscillating between Yoruba and pidgin English. “Oshod! Oshod!” He shouted angrily as I along with some other passengers scuttled for seats. There was this beautiful young lady who couldn’t throw caution and decorum to the wind but waited patiently until the bus was almost filled. Then she pleaded to sit by the agbero until somebody came down then she would pay for a proper seat. The agbero didn’t even look at her pretty face, he hissed and shouted to the driver to move that why didn’t she rush when others were rushing. The girl started pleading in Yoruba and clean ‘oyinbo’ english; “please, ejó, help me out sir, I know you are a good man, never mind all this shout you have been shouting (people burst into laug

"My Boyfriend Encouraged Me" –UNILORIN Best Anatomy Graduate

Image
Not all young girls in universities easily admit that they have boyfriends. Their male counterparts, many of them claim, are a source of distraction. Therefore, in the thinking a good number of female undergraduates, there is no need to keep boyfriends on campus. But this is not the thinking of the University of Ilorin 2013/2014 best Anatomy graduating student, Fatima Sulaimon. The 22-year-old is not just proud of her boyfriend, she is also happy with the relationship. According to her, her boyfriend is the elixir for her success. She said, “He encouraged, inspired and assisted me to excel in my studies.” Sulaimon, with a Cumulative Grade Average Point of 4.80, not only emerged as one of the 48 first class graduates this year, she is also the first female to obtain that grade in Anatomy in the history of the 29-year-old university. #opinion Things Crawford guys must avoid to impress dem gals ;)

NOTE: This write-up gotten from someone tho.... We guys have been made to think that we must always do anything possible to impress the female folk. I'm not against a guy loving his bae, I'm against a guy doing silly things in order to impress a lady. The truth is that most times, these actions come back to haunt us while, we get to regret at the end. 1. Spending above your means: whether its buying things you don't really need in order to look rich and fly, or spoiling the lady with things you normally should not be buying. Its wrong. I see a lot of guys do this and I keep wondering to what purpose? The worst is many of them come back to their senses when its already too late!  2. Lying: I'm not talking about the small lies guys normally tell, I'm talking about bragging to a lady about what you're not. Why tell a lady your father is Dangote's brother, or you're a Chelsea player, or you work in Shell when everybody 4 hostel sabi say u be regular

A male 200-level student of the Department of Mass Communication at Covenant University has been expelled for cross dressing. Student Pulse gathered that the student had attended lectures wearing  waist trimmers, originally worn by ladies to give them a slim-fit look. The student was suspended by the management of the institution. A further search in his hostel room revealed other items which suggest his gay tendencies. The items reportedly discovered included make-up components and feminine jewelry. He was then expelled following the discovery. The authorities however did not report the student to the Police, allegedly at the request of his parents. Nigeria's Sexual Offences Act stipulates a 14-year sentence for anyone convicted of homosexuality and 10 years in prison for anyone who aids or “abets” same-sex unions. Soooo....I would suggest crawford should consider that. Because according to close sources andrecent observations, there are some gay students Iin cru

That is how bad the situation is. These guys come to class and order female students to stand up to check if they are badly dressed. “Where will such rubbish happen if not LASPOTECH?” she queried.
