ABOH JOSEPH EMERGES AS NACOSS NEW PRESIDENT…

On Saturday, 30th April, the students of NACOSS (NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF COMPUTER SCIENCE STUDENTS) gathered in one of the lecture rooms to determine how their next 12 months in NACOSS would be and who they are going to entrust their administration mantle to in the General elections of the association. The election was conducted via an online voting system with the electorate comprising of mostly 100, 200 and 400 level students. The 300 level students were not around because of their Industrial Training scheme.
Originally slated for 9 a.m, but eventually starting by 10:30 a.m, the elections was a keenly contested one between all the aspirants. About 70 % of the available posts had over a candidate vying for it while 30 % of the posts had a sole contender. The online voting system was a very much welcomed initiative by NACOSS and kudos must go to the NACOSS Electoral Committee. It is (if my intuition serves me right) the first time that an online digital means of voting would be utilized by and association in the history of the school. I hope this motivates other departments in their subsequent elections.
At the end of the voting exercise, collation began and the results were announced about 2 hours after it began. The results are as follow:
President: Aboh Joseph
Vice-President: Onyekachi Nkire
General Secretary: Raheem Balikis
Financial Secretary: Adarabioyo Bolu
