NACOSS LIFTS DEPARTMENTAL CUP; GETS REWARDED WITH CASH AND CERTIFICATES

The National Association of Computer Science Students (NACOSS), Crawford university chapter has won the latest edition of the Departmental Football Competition last Friday. The competition which started in April is an annual football competition which is usually organized for the departments by the Football Association of the institution. This one had NACOSS play against GEMSA (Geology and Mineral Sciences Students association). The competition at the inception had 7 departmental teams competing in it. The departments were NACOSS (National Association of Computer Science Students), NABAMS (National Association of Business Administration and Management Students), NUASA (Nigerian Universities Accounting Students Association), NESA (National Economics Students Association), NAPSS (National Association of Political Science Students), IREPSA (Industrial Relations and Personnel students Association) and GEMSA (Geology and Mineral Sciences Students association). The Final Match which sta

CONTROVERSIAL AWARDS, DINNER FOOD AND THE PURGING EFFECT; ITS ALL ABOUT NAPSS

On Saturday, the best Dinner (some people say) and Awards night so far this session was held in Crawford University. The organizers, executives, department as a whole, students and other partakers have to take the credit for this “great” success. Held at the Monument Garden, it was fun and fun all the way throughout the evening. It was worth it! Despite not starting at the originally slated time (3 pm), the event was still a hit. Despite the fact that the MC, a certain Josh2Funny was not effortlessly funny, He tried for his job and money! The dancers also wowed the attendees, I mean, I love the rhythmic movement of their body language and their choreography. A great shout-out to Ife (She killed it mehn). However, there was a section of attendees who believed that the Awards was totally incredible, hilariously-shared and funnily distributed. These people (NAPSSites, funny enough) believed that considering the fact that the Awards nomination and voting stage was conducted in a somewha

NUASA DINNER RATINGS

How do I even start??? To avoid biasness, the usual rater had to give the job to someone else. And so there will be a fair judgement as regards NUASA’s performance yesterday. There’s no preamble as the dinner had so many negative comments at the end from various attendants, most comments had a tinge of sadness attached to it, and apparently no one enjoyed the show, Mr President, what happened? My internal sources reported there was lack of team spirit amongst the organizers, passers-by had a lot to say about the organizers……let me just go straight to the categories. DECORATIONS: it was the only amazing part of this dinner, the lighting and décor made much sense. NUASA apparently spent money on this aspect. And so you get 19%. FOOD SERVICE: this aspect wasn’t so bad too, i mean eating the same thing we eat here every day only this time it was free, not even free totally because attendants paid for tickets, and the service was outrageously cliché, red rice and green rice with chicken

VICTORIA SHINES AS SCHOOL FEMALE TEAM DEFEATS NUASA FEMALE TEAM IN STYLE

On Friday, 6th May, there was a football match between the NUASA Girls Team and the School Girls team on the football pitch. This match was a part of the programmes which was lined up by NUASA for its week which ends on Saturday. Kicking off by 5:35 pm, the match was refereed by Brown (400L). The school team comprised of Mercy, Favour (100L), Shope, Folakemi, Rachael, Ayo, Victoria (100L), Wunmi (200L), Desola, Bimbo, Rachael (200L), Nancy, Bose and Fisayo. The NUASA team comprised of players like Ruth Dambo, Tolu, Jumoke, Tirnom, Bukky, Victoria (400L), Kemi Kukoyi, Semilore, Jessica, Fihin, Bunmi, Doyin, Habibat and Tolu (300L). Hakeem (400L) was the coach of the NUASA team, while UBONG and COOL JOE were the managers of the School Team. From the onset till half time, the match was bubbling and full of excitement. Both teams showed determination to score and outplay the other. You know, that feeling you get when you watch girls play football, The Tingling! The thrilz! The Frilz! The

NESA DINNER AND AWARDS RATINGS

Ok ok ok……………the dinner was lit, when I mean lit, it was turnt….. I truly have no words for the amazing performance this department put up, apparently when you have a super gingered department, and equally gingered friends of the department it equals AWESOMENESS, and also when you read my ratings of other departments you tend to take corrections…. Check out NESA’s performance in details. As usual it’s over a 100%, 20 for each category… DECORATIONS: it wasn’t overly elaborate, but it was alright, the lighting wasn’t so impressive, it was dark and then the lights went off quite a lot too. I did expect to see serious lighting and lots of table décor, but all the same, you’re allowed to slack a bit in this area, because we all know how the economy is, and how everyone’s pocket be light. So I’ll give you 15% here. FOOD SERVICE: well, you didn’t promise us buffet service and so we got what we expected, to be served in take away packs and nylons, which at times might be the best way to ha

ABOH JOSEPH EMERGES AS NACOSS NEW PRESIDENT…

On Saturday, 30th April, the students of NACOSS (NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF COMPUTER SCIENCE STUDENTS) gathered in one of the lecture rooms to determine how their next 12 months in NACOSS would be and who they are going to entrust their administration mantle to in the General elections of the association. The election was conducted via an online voting system with the electorate comprising of mostly 100, 200 and 400 level students. The 300 level students were not around because of their Industrial Training scheme. Originally slated for 9 a.m, but eventually starting by 10:30 a.m, the elections was a keenly contested one between all the aspirants. About 70 % of the available posts had over a candidate vying for it while 30 % of the posts had a sole contender. The online voting system was a very much welcomed initiative by NACOSS and kudos must go to the NACOSS Electoral Committee. It is (if my intuition serves me right) the first time that an online digital means of voting would be utili

NAPSS, NACOSS GRAB WINS WHILE NESA, NUASA CRASH OUT……….. AS CRU DEPARMENTALS REACHES SEMI-FINAL STAGE

Last week Friday, NAPSS played IREPSA in the final match of group A stage qualifications in a somewhat boring manner. The match did not kick off on time, the lines-men were inexperienced and ostensibly novices, the ginger in both teams was low and also, the sun was still up in the sky when the match started. It was very much sunny when it kicked off and more so, there was only a goal recorded in the match. The match started by 5:30 pm, the referee remained unchanged (even with his wrong calls and absurd officiating in past matches), the lines-men initially were Olaoluwa and Nedu, who both were apparently unfit for the task. Captaining both sides were OJ Israel and Chukwudi for NAPSS and IREPSA respectively. Throughout the first half, both teams lacked clear precision, vision and tact playmaking. A strange, bizarre, uninteresting, unfathomable and absolutely bland style of football is what I can describe it with! Even with the disallowed goal which was scored for NAPSS by OJ Israel i
