NO REDUCTION IN TERTIARY INSTITUION FEES - OGUN STATE

Ogun state government has debunked the allegation that the pronouncement of reduction in the tertiary institution fees in the state was a fluke, noting that, the reduction remains. There has been rumour making rounds by students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) Ojere, Abeokuta that the state government has implemented the reduction since it made the announcement. It would be recalled that the state government had in September 2014 announced the reduction of school fees for all tertiary institutions across the state, hinting that, education should be given utmost priority in the state. But earlier this week, some students of MAPOLY took to the social media and castigated the state government for playing on their intelligence. In response to the students claim, a statement was issued today by the state government and signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Students Affairs, Comrade Olusegun Clement, dismissing claims that the state government has rescinde

10 TYPES OF FRESHERS YOU MEET IN CRAWFORD

I can still remember vividly my fresher's days when I had to go about the campus with my files and asking people for information. i can say it was embarrassing but was also fun and it is always easy to know a fresher in the campus. Here are some of the types of freshers you meet in the campus. 1. The JJCs:  every little thing amazes them(the buildings, crowd, cars. Etc) You begin to wonder if it is their first time of going out. 2. The ajebohs: they flaunt their wealth in the campus and remind you who their father is at every slightest opportunity. They display their phones; take people out for a treat regularly to impress. Majority of the people in this category got the money via extortion from their parents and everything normally cease after their first year in school (No offence oh!) 3. The gurus: first to ask and answer questions in the class, suggests taking their mates tutorials and depends in the past glory from their secondary school. If you fall in this category,

WHAT DO YOU THINK CRAWFORD IS DOING WRONG ?

With the look of things, crawford university is advancing a little bit with a very slow pace in terms of infrastructures, roads, hostel management and recruitment of enough qualified lecturers, but students seems to be more concerned about what CRU is doing wrong.    A student said "they prefer spending more money on flowers than repairing the school's football pitch and the basketball court" is that true ? What about our roads and so much more ? please share your view on what CRU is doing wrong  place your comment below ******************************************************************************** HOW TO COMMENT ON THIS BLOG * Scroll down *click on 'post a comment' *type your comment in the box *if u don't have a gmail account, u can comment as anonymous by choosing anonymous from a drop down menu below the comment box. *then click on publish to post your comment

The History of Campus Sexual Assault

Image
"Male sex aggression on a university campus" was the title of one of the first studies published about a topic now very much in the news. Way back in 1957, sociologist Eugene Kanin posited a model where men used secrecy and stigma to pressure and exploit women. Today student activists and the federal government are successfully raising awareness about a problem that's been around for a very long time. By most accounts, one in five female college students will be assaulted. Gender relations have changed since the 1950s and so has the law. What's still unclear is the best approach for preventing sexual misconduct on campus. For some answers, I called up one of the leading scholars who's been researching the issue for decades. Inside the Minds of Perpetrators Mary Koss coined the term "date rape" back in the 1980s. She's a professor of psych

Private Universities Have No Business With TET Fund

leadership editorial — Nov 29 2014 Of recent, there has been an upswing in the number of owners and managers of private universities agitating that the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) extends assistance to private universities in the country, with the latest call coming from the vice chancellor of Achievers’ University, Owo, Ondo State, Prof. Tunji Ibiyemi. They insist that like the government-owned universities, they are in the business of providing social services; therefore government should extend financial assistance to them as players in the education sector. They are of the view that their continuous exclusion from accessing funds from TETFund amounts to discrimination in view of the fact that the funds are sourced from the private sector. In our view, this is tantamount to asking the government to subsidise a wholly private venture that was established with profit motive. TETFund was established as an intervention agency under the TETFund Act 2011, charged with the resp

Humiliation Of A University Graduate On Graduation Day

Is this the level of degradation the Nigerian educational system has gotten to...A shocking but funny picture which has been circulating since yesterday showed a young man celebrating his graduation from the university with "class and style".... The Psychology graduate of Imo State University IMSU whose name is withheld due to embarrassing reasons deemed it fit to celebrate his graduation by being drenched with water as he rolled on the ground, messing himself up with "joy and happiness"...Only if we knew how long it took him to conquer the battle......"School matter no be small tin"..... If some Nigerian graduates can behave this way because they've made it through the University, how would it be when they get a job or even become successful in life....Little wonder the political thugs in our National chambers know how to scale fences and jump gates efficiently -when the educated and thugs all do the same thing... Anyways, congratulations to the

Crisis at LASU

Image
Fresh crisis is currently brewing at the Lagos State University, LASU, with the Vice Chancellor of the school, Prof. John Obafunwa withdrawing the Ph.D certificates of 14 lecturers opposed to his administration in the troubled institution. The lecturers have also passed a vote of no confidence on the VC, calling for his removal from office for the school to move forward. Speaking after the meeting of the Lagos Zone of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, held at the Ojo Campus of LASU on Wednesday, the lecturers alleged that the authorities of LASU are calling for the withdrawal of the certificates of 14 lecturers with Ph.D bagged in the school and duly signed by the VC. According to Dr. Sola Nasir, Coordinator of ASUU, Lagos Zone, the school management decided to withdraw the Ph.D certificates of the lecturers for calling for the reversal of students fees to the old rate of N25,000. He said this was the plan put in place by the VC to victimise the lecturers for standing up

LOVE STORY OF A UNILAG BABE AND BUS CONDUCTOR

*sobs* this is a very touching nd rili funny story by my nigga: Roy ofili..pls enjoy: Something interesting happened on my way to Oshodi this morning. At the park this rough mean-looking conductor also known as “agbero” in Yoruba was screaming for passengers, his vernacular oscillating between Yoruba and pidgin English. “Oshod! Oshod!” He shouted angrily as I along with some other passengers scuttled for seats. There was this beautiful young lady who couldn’t throw caution and decorum to the wind but waited patiently until the bus was almost filled. Then she pleaded to sit by the agbero until somebody came down then she would pay for a proper seat. The agbero didn’t even look at her pretty face, he hissed and shouted to the driver to move that why didn’t she rush when others were rushing. The girl started pleading in Yoruba and clean ‘oyinbo’ english; “please, ejó, help me out sir, I know you are a good man, never mind all this shout you have been shouting (people burst into laug

"My Boyfriend Encouraged Me" –UNILORIN Best Anatomy Graduate

Image
Not all young girls in universities easily admit that they have boyfriends. Their male counterparts, many of them claim, are a source of distraction. Therefore, in the thinking a good number of female undergraduates, there is no need to keep boyfriends on campus. But this is not the thinking of the University of Ilorin 2013/2014 best Anatomy graduating student, Fatima Sulaimon. The 22-year-old is not just proud of her boyfriend, she is also happy with the relationship. According to her, her boyfriend is the elixir for her success. She said, “He encouraged, inspired and assisted me to excel in my studies.” Sulaimon, with a Cumulative Grade Average Point of 4.80, not only emerged as one of the 48 first class graduates this year, she is also the first female to obtain that grade in Anatomy in the history of the 29-year-old university. Claiming however that the relationship with her boyfriend was a ‘normal friendship devoid of untoward indulgences’, she stated that the young man gave her

On Thursday, November 13, 2014 Orezi was kicked out of the Redeemers University's premises by the school management, much to the disapproval of several students who started protesting ethe decision. Orezi who was just about to perform his hit track "Shoki" was chased out of the school, after the University's Chaplain was reported to have threatened the DJ of the Event. Left with no choice but to leave the school, Orezi afterwards took to Twitter to apologise to the disappointed students, promising however to be back to entertain them someday. Apparently he was invited by Redeemer's University Student’s Association for the 2014 Fresher’s event tagged ‘The Debut Night.’ Lmao...this reminds me of the Tolu project fame incident in crawford. #opinion Things Crawford guys must avoid to impress dem gals ;)

NOTE: This write-up gotten from someone tho.... We guys have been made to think that we must always do anything possible to impress the female folk. I'm not against a guy loving his bae, I'm against a guy doing silly things in order to impress a lady. The truth is that most times, these actions come back to haunt us while, we get to regret at the end. 1. Spending above your means: whether its buying things you don't really need in order to look rich and fly, or spoiling the lady with things you normally should not be buying. Its wrong. I see a lot of guys do this and I keep wondering to what purpose? The worst is many of them come back to their senses when its already too late!  2. Lying: I'm not talking about the small lies guys normally tell, I'm talking about bragging to a lady about what you're not. Why tell a lady your father is Dangote's brother, or you're a Chelsea player, or you work in Shell when everybody 4 hostel sabi say u be regular
