NABAMS DESTROYS NUASA ………. INFLICTS ITS FIRST DEFEAT IN ONGOING COMPETITION

NABAMS is National Association of Business Administration and Management Students. It is a department which boasts of a small population of students. Yet, the department is laden with a whole deal of greatness and potential. This was evident yesterday when it defeated NUASA (Nigerian Association of Accounting Students) by 2 goals to nil. This win moves NABAMS 6 points clear at the summit of group 1.

Played under a cold ambience; the Match started by 5:10 pm with the centre referee still Mr. SEUN. Draco (NAPSS) and Precious (NAPSS) were the linesmen for the match while Ubong and Hakeem were the captains for NABAMS and NUASA respectively. NUASA lined up in its starting lineup, players like Hakeem, Chris Mufasa, Precious, Dele, Ofuya, Chris George etc. For NABAMS, the usual suspects remained ATM, Agagu, Ubong, Jide (Papilo), Sofo, Emerald and Student-comedian, Bucket.

The first goal was conceded by NUASA in the 10th minute; Emerald (NABAMS) scored in the box from an assist by Sofo. Both sides played out each other, outmatched each other throughout the first half with the scoreline remaining the same.
The second half was no different from the first, as both teams continued playing to score. Jide and Ubong of NABAMS, at some point, personalized the midfield, leaving NUASA’s midfielders out in the open. Also, Hakeem of NUASA single-handedly, took control of the midfield later on in the second half, creating chances for his teammates to score, of which they never did. The adroitness of ATM at the heart of the NABAMS defense saw out efforts from NUASA as he kept frustrating goal-scoring chances which were constantly being created by NUASA’s Hakeem. The game never had a dull moment from the inception up till the final whistle. It was a very interesting one.

The winning goal came in the 80th minute when Ubong nodded home a corner which was taken by Jide. Ostensibly, NABAMS had won the game, without any iota of doubt. There was nothing NUASA could do any longer. They still have 3 points though and they play NESA in their next game. Let’s see how it all goes.

I have a difficulty in selecting the Man of the match; should it be Ubong, who scored the winning goal after a good day of great football or should it be Jide Papilo, who was a thorn in the flesh of NUASA’s defenders throughout the game. However for the flop of the match, you all will decide! Should it be Brown, who after being brought on for just 10 minutes complained of fatigue! Or should it be Idris whose ONLY impact in the game was to douse the altercation between Bucket and Mufasa earlier in the First half. Apart from that, he was lost in the game-play, throughout the match.
