GEMSSA DINNER AND AWARDS NIGHT........A WORTHY ONE

It was certainly super anticipated, being the pioneering association to start this session’s dinner and award’s night for the university. It was fun at least; I’ll just go on to the ratings:All categories for ratings are over 20% in total 100%.

DECORATIONS: well since the monument garden was used as the venue, it wasn’t expected that the decorations would be overly elaborate as it would be super expensive for your department, but you did your best. So I’ll give you 17%.

FOOD SERVICE: well this one category is one I have a lot to say about, I thought it was a buffet service dinner, apparently there’s a new definition for buffet service given by GEMSSA, “it’s a situation where you have geology students and invites line up to collect plates of food”. I wasn’t impressed by the taste of the food either so pardon me if your ratings don’t make you happy. Next set please do better. 10.5%

EVENT ORGANIZATION: somehow I can’t begin to fathom how we have dinners without ushers in Crawford University; it’s imperative that every other association take note of this, you need ushers to effectively organize your program, now at GEMSSA the burden was on your poor association girls, they ought to have been enjoying the dinner too, but they were deprived of that satisfaction, I noticed mainly the 400lvl girls had to deal with this, it was their last dinner and yet 400lvl students had to do more, not fair. The sound systems and the emcees were a whole different issue; it was a really loud event as a result. Deejays should please learn to reduce the volume of their sound systems while emcees are speaking. Any association using the monument garden for dinners again should please ensure that attendants are not left to suffer at the hand of this unmerciful sun, I mean we came to enjoy the dinner, not get sunburnt. 12%

AWARDS: oh wow, this category definitely made me happy, to be honest I didn’t sense any bias with the distributions of the awards; Ayo for miss fresher, Precious for Mr fresher, Alex as Mr money bag (hopefully I’ll see that soon), Gbaja the only recipient of two awards for the night (personality and geologist of the year), Ireti Akinsola as the female geologist of year. Izuchukwu as Mr Physique (yep, he is definitely worth it), Gwendolyn as his female counterpart. Pase was Mr Ebony (he had no competition to be honest), Funmi as his female counterpart definitely deserved the award. All others not listed were fairly given too. 18%

TIME MANAGEMENT: oh well the sun didn’t help matters, the lunch/dinner started at about 5pm, and ended finally at few minutes to 8pm, which was super impressive, but they still had to rush the awards and so nominees didn’t get called  just the winners, but y’all did great in the end. 16%
In total, the ratings are 73.5% out of 100%.

So that’s it, I had FUN, but the day after, started with stomach imbalance. Gbaja you’re a very key guy, you ended your tenure on a sleek note.

A NEW VICE-CHANCELLOR FOR CRAWFORD UNIVERSITY

Crawford university has appointed a new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Isaac Rotimi Ajayi. This was made official at a send forth ceremony organized for three of its administrative members. They are: the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samson Ayanlaja: the former school bursar, Rev. E.O. Ajayi and the Outgoing School Counsellor Dr. E.O. Aramide. The send-forth was held on the 5th October 2015 at the school's multi-purpose hall. After serving as the second Vice Chancellor of Crawford University from October 2010 to September 2015, Professor S.A.
