SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM DEFEATS STAFF TEAM IN NOVELTY MATCH




As part of the organized events for the Convocation week, there was a football match between the staff and students of Crawford University. The match was played on Saturday 12th December on the soccer pitch of the institution with several participants ranging from students and staff, all turning up for the match. The Match was organized to promote harmony between the students and staff and also, was aimed at fusing the new administration together the student body.  In the spectator stand was the Vice Chancellor, Prof.  Rotimi Isaac Ajayi; the Deputy Vice chancellor, Prof. Patrick Yalokwu, The Acting Bursar, Mrs. Kemi Ojo, The Institution Principal accountant, Mr. Emeka Nnamdi amidst other members of the administrative members.

The staff team comprised mostly of the non-academic staff especially from the Horticultural department of the University. There were also, some lecturers on the team like Mr. Aransiola, Dr Keshinro, and Mr. Henry Fiewor. The student team comprised of mostly, members of the school team which include Aragbaye Kola, Ovokovo, Brown Omope, Ubong, Kunle, Harrisong, Dexter, Paul Nmadu Jiya, Cool Joe, Jegede Samuel, Osas, Jide Akannji, Akeem, Michael.
The match was played amidst fun fare and cheering from the respective staff and student supporters. The match ended 2:1 in favour of the student-team with both goals scored by Akannji BabaJide (Economics 400L), while the lone goal for the staff team was scored by a Horticultural staff member.

At the end of the match, the Vice Chancellor addressed everybody present for the match. He congratulated the student-team for winning the match despite the fact that the staff team played very well. He thanked everybody present for the match whilst reiterating the rationale behind the match. He reminded the students of the Thanksgiving service in church which would hold the following day, being a Sunday at the Apostolic Faith Church of the School. He cordially invited all students to be there.

Meanwhile, while the football match was going on, there was also table-tennis for the staff and students to play. The members of the staff who were noticeable at the Table were Mr. Nnamdi, Mr. Femi and some students like Precious Odion, Dosumu Doyin, Precious (Political Science dept ), Bolu Daniels, Ibeh Chidinma etc. There were several students who also showed interest in the game of tennis.



Subsequent upcoming activities slated for the convocation week include The Alumni Website Launch, the Alumni Dinner, the Parents Forum-NYSC Debate for students and also the launch of the Magazine.
