( Pro-chancellor of crawford university, igbesa)    -It is not legal for Universities to organise post UTME tests for applicants

It is an illegal act for universities to organise post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Post-UTME) tests for prospective students.
Professor Peter Okebukola, a former Executive Secretary of the National University Commission (NUC), stated this while delivering a lecture at Osun State University (OSU), Osogbo.
He said the practice of subjecting students to rigorous examinations after writing the UTME organised by the Joint Admission And Matriculation Board is against the law.
The Universities can only make the students write essay and use the avenue to see and interact with their prospective students but the universities have deviated and turned the post UTME test to another examination after the students had written the UTME and that is against the law,” Okebukola said.
Okebukola, also the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council of Crawford University, Igbesa, Ogun State, argued that, in the original design of the Post-UTME, universities are only supposed to organise essays related to the course they intend to study, not examinations.
He also stated that Nigeria's skewered process of professorial appointment has led to the emergence of many "roadside professors”.
