"SOME STUDENTS CALLED ME ERRAND BOY FOR THE S.R.C. BUT I KNOW WE TRIED OUR BEST" JEGEDE SAMUEL SPEAKS OUT.

JEGEDE SAMUEL is the outgoing General Secretary of the Students Representative Council (S.R.C.), 015/2016 session of Crawford University. He is also the outgoing President of NACOSS (the National Association of Computer Science Students). In this exclusive interview with ADEOYE DANIEL of CRAWFORD STUDENTS PRESS CLUB, he discusses about the activities of the Students Representative Council (S.R.C.) in the 2015/2016 session.

EXCERPTS:

Q.  You are the outgoing General Secretary of the Students Representative Council (S.R.C.) and the fact is that it wasn’t all rosy during your tenure. Can you describe it for us?

Well, like you said, it was not easy for us as the Students Representative Council (S.R.C.) and for me as the General Secretary. There were tough times, the times of insults from fellow students and so on. There were good times also and after all being said and done, we are done with our tenure and here we are.

Q. Uneasy, tough times, insults? Kindly shed more light on that?

Impromptu meetings, tight daily schedules and also, fellow students believing we didn’t not meet their expectations. Insults from some fellow students who don’t just understand the whole system; I was once called the Official Errand Boy of the S.R.C. Well, like you rightly said, it wasn’t easy but we give God all the Glory.

Q. Impromptu meetings! Does it mean that the Students Representative Council (S.R.C.) doesn’t have a schedule of meetings for its members?

Actually we do! We do have a schedule of meetings but it depends on the urgency of the issues at hand. Most of these impromptu meetings are usually with the school management; where we get to discuss varying matters of concern with the school management.  We liaise with the school management on how to better the living conditions of the students as a whole.

Q. And how has the Liaising fared out?

Well it is evident, very much evident in terms of betterment. There is an improvement in water supply, electricity supply and also the security unit of the school now operates in a more student-friendly manner yet functional in their primary duties.

Q. So you are saying that the Students Representative Council (S.R.C.) actually improved the living conditions of the student body as a whole? Is that what you are insinuating?

Yes the Students Representative Council (S.R.C.) did but it was not up to the standard that we initially wanted but we have tried our best and it is up to the incoming members of the Students Representative Council (S.R.C.) to better our achievements.

Q. Last session, a major problem that the students had with the Students Representative Council (S.R.C.) was the lack of an effective communication channel. Why?

Well...No Direct Response to that. I would only say that we discovered the problem and we immediately addressed it. We did our best to fix it

Q. On a lighter note, who is Jegede Samuel?

Hmmm, I am Jegede Samuel, the outgoing General Secretary of the Students Representative Council (S.R.C.) in Crawford University. I am the immediate past President of NACOSS (the National Association of Computer Science Students). I am also the past President of the TALIXIRS (a Talent Discovering Group in the School). I am a Lagos born and bred guy although I am from EDO state. I am a very much simple guy; very much open! What else is there to know?

Q. Your parting words to those who love you?

Those who love me ke? Okay!
Thanks to all for the support, it has been helpful all through. I wish everybody the best in their respective endeavours. It was a great honour serving the students of Crawford University. God Bless You all.
